First of all, a year ago today I was giving birth, so it’s kind of surreal to talk about dessert today. I just felt like I couldn’t not mention that. If you know me in real life be sure to wish my boy a Happy Birthday. This year flew by so fast!
I know, you really want pie, but what about those of us who could live without pie? Also, did you know that you can have other desserts for Thanksgiving too? This post is going to be a list of holiday themed desserts that will be sure to wow your family, but also out a spin on tradition (and maybe even start a new one).
Also, I know that not everyone is a fan of pumpkin things, so I will be including some non-pumpkin options too of course! If you are all about pumpkin, be sure to check out my Perfectly Pumpkin post from fall 2021!
Pumpkin Tiramisu– Serves: 12
This is a pumpkiny take on a fan favorite dessert. My husband is a huge fan of tiramisu (though he won’t try this because he says you shouldn’t mess with a good thing by changing the flavor). I have never been a huge fan, but even I was kind of excited about this.

Caramel Apple Nachos– Serves 12 (or more if you make it)
This is so easy and you don’t have to do any actual baking. We made these for my daughters first birthday. They can be as simple or as fancy as you want them. I’m going to link and ideas page for you, but below you can see how I did it. It was SO good and you can choose whatever apples are your favorite!

Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups – Serves 18 cups or a 9×13 pan
This is so cute. Made to be a Momma blog is where I found this particular one and I knew immediately it had to be included. This one would be especially wonderful if you have kids coming to your Thanksgiving. I mean look at how cute these are!

Pumpkin OR Apple Dump Cake – Serves 10 – 12
I love me a good dump cake and Sugar and Soul had two really good recipes for both, so I decided to include them in one section! What I liked about hers was that she also had tried making these Gluten Free too, so I know these can be made for GF families as well!

Cream Cheese Pumpkin Pie Crescent Rolls – Serves 8 (or more if you get more rolls)
In all honesty this was one of those “suggested for you” recipes on social media and oh is it for me! I had to include it here. It was created by Big Bear’s Wife blog. You can find the recipe at the link above. These look so cute and absolutely delicious.

Apple Pie Cookie Cups – Serves 20 cookie cups
I have been sharing this recipe on Facebook for 5 years now. I think this will finally be the year that I make them! There are so many different recipes for them, but the one I like the best has an oatmeal cookie crust on the bottom! These look delicious and they’re so cute and pie LIKE without being actual pie.

Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats– Serves 14
For these you use your typical Rice Krispie recipe, but before you add the cereal to the melted marshmallow, you need to add some orange food coloring. Mix it well and then stir in the cereal. Let it cool for 2 minutes and then form medium sized pumpkin shapes. Use mini Rolos and M&M’s for the stem and the leaf. These are a cute simple treat (especially for the kids who hate everything).

Glazed Maple Shortbread Cookies – Serves 18 Cookies
I was trying to find something with maple and then all of a sudden I wanted a recipe for maple shortbread cookies. I found this one with a glaze. I immediately printed it (yes I still print my recipes) and it is on my fall baking list now. These look delicious.

I hope that you take the time to try one of these this year even if you don’t use them for Thanksgiving, but I am for sure making one for Thanksgiving. See ya later pie (just kidding we will still have pie). Let me know if you’ve tried any of these or if you plan to in the comments or over on social media!
