Shows to Binge This Fall

I know that a lot of TV shows are coming back for the season on live TV, so for some of you this post seems pointless. However, for a growing number of us, we don’t have live TV, so we live for good shows to binge watch. Below you will find an updated list of the shows that I think you need to add to your fall line up.

#1: Virgin River (Netflix): If you haven’t jumped on this bandwagon yet, I urge you to hop on right now. I have binged all 4 seasons and I am anxiously awaiting the next season (they’re already filming it!!!!). This one might be more for the women of the house, but it’s full of love, loss, adventure and even some mystery.

#2: White Collar (Hulu): Now hear me out. This is an older show, but sometimes it’s nice to binge something from start to finish. I watched this with my parents in the Spring for like the fourth time and it’s just such a good show. It’s got crime, romance, loss, comedy, family, friends and so much more. It also has some pretty awesome actors in it.

#3 Gilmore Girls (Netflix): Another oldie but a goodie. I’m not sure why but Gilmore Girls always makes me think of cozy fall weather. This is the perfect time to kick back and watch (or re-watch) your favorite Mother-Daughter duo in action.

#4 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+): This is a newer show and yet another spin off of Star Wars. It’s time to put your nerd hat on and watch this really awesome series. There are actually a few more on Disney+ that are fellow Star Wars spin offs, but this is a newer one that I have loved watching. There is only one season so far, so it’s a quick watch. It gives you the back story on what happened to Obi-Wan after he thought he killed Anakin Skywalker.

#5 This is Us (Hulu): If you are anything like me, you have been putting off the series finale of this show because you just don’t want it to end. However, I think fall is the perfect time to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and some tissues and binge this heartwarmingly, heartbreaking show.

** Noteworthy Shows that I have yet to watch but can’t leave off because of their stellar reviews**

#1 Bridgerton (Netflix)– According to google, “The show is based on the popular Bridgerton book series, written by Julia Quinn, that revolves around two families during “the season,” an annual period where elite families would host formal events to introduce their children to society and find them a suitable marriage.” (google link). According to everyone else, it’s a show they can’t stop watching. Fall is a great time to catch up before they release another season.

#2 Ozark (Netflix)– This is another show that is on my watch list. It seems like fall would be a great time to binge this show too before they release season 5. According to google, Ozark is about “A financial adviser drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss” (google link). According to my “sources” (aka the mom’s of instagram), it’s a really good show that will totally keep you interested.

#3 Inventing Anna (Netflix): This is a newer show that was created by Grey’s Anatomy’s own Shonda Rhimes. It’s apparently based on the true story of a woman who called herself Anna and ripped off a ton of rich people in NYC while posing as a socialite herself. It seems pretty interesting, and I’ve loved just about all of Shonda’s other shows. This is the perfect time to binge the show because there’s only one season and they are about to release the second season.

#4 How I Met Your Father (Hulu): To be honest I have seen the first few episodes and I really enjoyed them, but life got away from me and I haven’t finished the first season yet. If you liked How I Met Your Mother, you’ll probably like this too, as long as you don’t sit there and try to compare the two. There are many differences, but the premise is the same and it’s definitely a funny show. A lot lighter of a storyline than the other shows that I have suggested thus far.

#5 Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu): This show seems to have some pretty big name actors in it. It has great reviews right now for being as new as it is. It is based off of a book. According to Harpers Bazaar, “The book tells the story of a single mother, Mia Warren, who moves to the suburbs in Ohio with her teenage daughter, where they become involved with Elena Richardson and her picture-perfect family. While Mia is a free-spirited artist with a mysterious past, Elena is a stickler for the rules and status quo. The two families find themselves on opposing sides when a custody battle erupts over the adoption of a Chinese-American baby and the plot unfolds to explore the weight of secrets, the struggles of motherhood and the danger of always following the rules no matter the cost” (Article link). This one will definitely be added to my watch list this fall.

As always, my hope is that this list is helpful and not annoying. You all know how much I love a good list, and I love reviews even more. This was a fun piece to write because during my research I found some new shows for myself to watch this fall right along side you. If you think I missed a good fall show, be sure to add it in the comments so that everyone can see! Happy binging!

  1. I’m surprised you didn’t mention Heartland, Heart of Dixie or Lost. All three are series we have loved many times over.
