I have grown to really love Halloween and this year I want to make a bucket list of Halloween things to do this year. We have a really busy October this year, so we’re going to start our Halloween bucket list in September before this is published, however, all of this can be done as slowly or as quickly as you want it to be.
I will add a graphic at the end that you can screenshot and save for later in case you want to use these ideas for your own family!
- Carve/Paint Pumpkins – I’ve done both of these things and it’s year to year whether I will be carving or painting a pumpkin.
- Have a Halloween Movie Marathon – This can be scary themed or you can throw on the classics (read as: Halloweentown)
- Visit a Haunted House – This is not really my thing, but I know that it is a Halloween favorite.
- Make Carmel Apples – These have always been a favorite of mine. I will link my favorite way to eat them here!
- Walk Along a Scarecrow Trail – I know that not every town has these but if you can find one, they are so fun.
- Go to a Trunk or Treat – I think every town hosts one of these.
- Dress up in a Costume – Yes even you the 30 year old adult. You are never too old to have fun.
- Bake a Halloween Treat – even if you are someone who doesn’t usually bake, try it out you may like it.
- Make a Boo Basket – I’ll share some examples here, but they are so fun to either keep at your house or share with friends.
- Visit a Corn Maze – these are a blast if you have a local one!
- Make Your Own Fall Candles – You can do this any time of year but there is something cool about doing it in the fall.
- Try a Pumpkin Recipe – I have a blog post here with all sorts of pumpkin recipes that you can pick from!
- Read Halloween Books – There are so many good ones for the kids AND the adults. If you need any book recommendations, let me know!
- Make a Halloween Craft – adults and kids can participate in this activity.
- Decorate the House for Halloween – inside or outside (or both 😉).
- Wear Halloween Pajamas – We made this a tradition in our house, just like Christmas pajamas.
- Have a Halloween Photo Shoot – there have been some really cool ones posted online. You can make this as spooky or silly as you want.
- Go Trick-or-Treating – I didn’t celebrating halloween growing up so this has become one of my favorite things to do with my kids in October. I try to find at least 2 different places for us to go during the month.
- Tell Ghost Stories – I have a confession to make, I don’t believe in ghosts, but I love a good ole ghost story, so I had to add this to the list.
- Host a Halloween Party – If you dare to be the host, this sounds like such a fun idea. One day I will get my act together and throw a halloween party.

I hope you have a wonderful Halloween. The holiday season is just getting started, so you know I have many more celebratory posts coming your way. Feel free to screen shot the bucket list and save it for later. It will also be on my social media accounts if you want to share it there! Thanks again for being here! Happy Halloween!
