occasionally funny, always a mess

Christmas In July

Hear me out, I know that I just asked you to throw a big 4th of July party, but this isn’t going to be as big (unless you want it to be). I’m going to tell you about something that my family celebrates each and every year. Something that brings some Christmas joy in the middle of the summer. Each year we do it differently depending on what is happening around that time. Sometimes we do a full Christmas dinner and sometimes we just have pizza and Christmas cookies. I’m going to lay it all out for you.

Decor:
Christmas Tree || Minimal Garland || Hanging Sign || Santa on the Beach Ornaments || Tableware || Inflatable || Backdrop || Mini Tree Kit

This is a stock image that belongs to Amazon.

Dinner:
You can do a traditional Christmas dinner or you can have something else, but it’s way more fun to bring out all the fixings and just go for it. Ham and Turkey and ribs and mashed potatoes and corn and garlic potatoes and Mac ‘n’ cheese and apple sauce. The list goes on. Or you can order some pizza and call it a day. Be sure to make some egg nog and drink some frozen hot chocolate too.

Dessert:
Christmas Cookies || Fruit Cake || Frozen Hot Chocolate || Grinch Popcorn || Christmas Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches || Christmas Fruit Kabobs

I do not own the rights to this really cool image.

Activities:
Snowball fight (with fake snowballs of course) || Christmas Corn hole (I literally have a little Christmas version of corn hole, but you can pain a cheap corn hole set or make one yourself) || Antler Ring Toss || Christmas Bingo

Gifts:
I do something different for Christmas in July than I do for Christmas. In July, the budget is $10 MAX. Per person. You can do homemade, second hand or brand new. Use Prime Day and Target Circle/Walmart summer sales to your advantage for this if you want to shop new. I have never had a problem getting the kids something really cute.

I promise that this doesn’t have to be a big thing. It can be as small or as big as you want it to be. I love to grab a small Christmas tree and set it up for this, but you do not have to do that. You can make a paper tree with your kids and that can be the tradition. Or you can have no tree at all. The point is to find another reason to celebrate.

There were so many other pictures that I wanted to share with you but I am trying to reign myself in. I usually dress my kids up in Christmas outfits and we take pictures and celebrate.
