I originally had a piece written that I was going to share today, but it felt bigger than this blog, so I submitted it to the blog Her View From Home, where it is now published. However, I still had a space to fill here, and I will never let a September go by without bringing awareness to NICU life here on my blog because it is so near and dear to me. This year, I decided to pull together some really great NICU blog pieces from around the web and showcase them here for you to browse and of course you’ll find my newly published NICU piece that I would be honored for you to read!
“Dear New NICU Mom, You Are Strong” by: Lizzie Michalak – This is my first article that was published on Her View From Home. I am so proud of this piece and would be honored if you took the time to pop over and read it. Being a NICU mom has shaped me in ways that I couldn’t imagine and this was a way for me to share my thoughts with me from 2019 and other new NICU moms who are in the same place I was then.
“When I Can’t He Can” by: Danielle Busby – This was shared on Sadi Robertson’s website in 2017. It is a great article about what women can do in the face of being told we can’t do it (when it comes to NICU life and preemies, etc). She was the first NICU mom that I ever followed, long before I knew I’d be a NICU mom myself (back before they had their show). While I couldn’t find her OG blog, this was a great (quick) read!
“A Dad’s Role in the NICU” by: Project Sweet Peas – This is an older post, but it was written for the dads. They so often get lost in the chaos of NICU life because everything is happening so fast and Mom has just gone through a major trauma, and the baby is fighting to live, but Dad is there too and this post is for them!
“5 Things NICU Nurses Want Parents to Know” by April Rowe, RN : This was a really cool article from the perspective of a nurse and I loved what she wrote on this site. Please give it a read. She made some beautiful points here.
“From the Heart of a NICU Mom” by: Lizzie Michalak – I will be sharing a few of my posts because I have poured my heart and soul into them over the years and through them have found so much healing and comfort! Here is one of my older ones!
“NICU FAQ’s You Need to Know” by: Every Tiny Thing -This is a great resource for first time NICU parents! I love this non-profits well. While you are reading the post, feel free to take a peek at the rest of their page!
“So You Want to Help a NICU Parent” by: Lizzie Michalak – Maybe one of my most important posts that I have written for NICU families over the years. I hope this one has provided you with some help in assisting those that are in your life going through the trauma of NICU life.
Thank you for coming back every September and showing love on these NICU posts. I really appreciate your readership. NICU life is hard for so many reasons and even after we make it out, it is a part of us forever. I chose to make it part of me in a good way, and this blog helps me do that, and so do you, so thank you again!
