Taste of Summer: Blueberry Edition

This wasn’t my original post for this week. I was going to talk about a heavier topic. I thought I would be ready to talk about secondary infertility, but when it came time to write, I just wasn’t ready to share our journey yet, so I did some googling and found out that July is national blueberry month and decided to run with that.

This is the beginning of my “Taste of Summer” series. I may continue it this year, or it may be a once a year thing where I take one fruit and find you some fun things to do with it. We are currently in the middle of baby lead weaning so this post was really helpful for our little family! Blueberry picking season is different depending on what part of the country (world) you are in, but you can always get them from the grocery store!

1. Baked Blueberry Skillet Pancakes: This is a fun twist on blueberry pancakes. I found the recipe on the Pearl Milling Company website (formally Aunt Jemima). You can find the recipe here, but it looks so good. Almost like a pastry!

2. Blueberry Cobbler: There are so many recipes out there, but you will never convince me that there’s a better one than Betty Crocker. You can find it here. Okay, I’m sure someone’s grandma has a better one, but I love tradition and I eat what I know and what I know is Betty Crocker.

3. Blueberry Cheesecake Bars: I found these on the Dance Around the Kitchen blog site. I love cheesecake, so this is a cool way to combine fruit and cheesecake without just piling on the fruit goo like most people do! I’ll link the recipe here. There are other versions of this recipe, but she seems to have spent time perfecting it, so I of course chose hers for you!

4. Lemon Blueberry Bread: Despite the fact that I’m not a big lemon fan or a blueberry fan, I’d love this bread because it’s both bread and dessert in one, and those are two of my favorite things. Again, you can find this recipe from a lot of places, but I found one that I liked on the Glorious Treats blog! You can find the recipe here! Just look at the picture below from their page! It looks so good!

5. Tik Tok Viral Blueberry Cookies: I couldn’t leave this post without including these. Now mind you, I’m old, so I didn’t actually find these on TikTok. I found them after (like almost 2 years after) and then went back to TikTok and was totally impressed. These purple cookies had me at first sight. I found quite a few blogs with recipes for this cookie, I couldn’t find the OG posters recipe, but these seem pretty close! The Kitchn blog post recipe is linked here!

Thanks for letting me change this post last minute. I know you didn’t have a choice in the matter, but this was a fun light and fluffy piece to throw into the mix this summer! Do you have any favorite blueberry recipes that I didn’t include? There are so many more that I didn’t include since I’m not really a blueberry kinda person. I just tried to find the ones that looked good to me! Drop them in the comments below or tag me on Instagram! I’ll see you back in a couple weeks with a more serious topic. For now, enjoy your summer and fill your of blueberries this month!
