occasionally funny, always a mess

A Seasonal Tree

It’s no secret that my favorite time of year is Christmas. So you can imagine my sadness when I take down all of the decor. One year in college, my roommates agreed to let me keep the tree up for the rest of the year and decorate it for each season. My obsession with a seasonal tree grew from there and has continued for years. I spent this year documenting my seasonal tree so that I could compile them into a post and share the fun with you.

** Each year I have grown the tree more and more (first years budget was about $5 a month on decor, we’re up to about $15 a month now 😂). I was extremely disappointed in my trees when I found another woman who does these 8 foot, gorgeous seasonal trees. I even thought about quitting, but then I remembered that I’m not doing this as a competition. This tree brings me JOY (and could bring you joy too). Plus, I have a toddler and a small budget (the other lady’s tree budget was around $400, so you can imagine the difference). All that said, I am super proud of what I’ve accomplished with $15 a month.**

My hope is to inspire more people to break the Christmas tree norms and have a piece of the joy all year long.

So, without further ado, I present my 2021 Seasonal Tree:

January Theme: A Winter Tree || Optional Theme: New Year Tree

February Theme: A Valentine’s Day Tree || Optional Themes: Super Bowl Tree, Black History Month Tree, Breast Cancer Awareness Month Tree

March Theme: St. Patrick’s Day Tree (there’s nothing else fun about March)

April Theme: Easter Tree (this is assuming Easter is in April) || Optional Theme: Spring Flower Tree or Umbrella/ Rain Tree

May Theme: Birthday Tree (May is my birthday month and I take it very seriously) || Optional Themes: Mother’s Day Tree or Memorial Day Tree

June Theme: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy || Optional Theme: Poolside Tree

July Theme: 4th of July Tree || Optional Theme: Canada Day Tree

August Theme: Fruit Tree (mine was specifically watermelon) || Optional Theme: Back to School (if you live in the south)

September Theme: Fall Leaves Tree || Optional Theme: Back to School (if you live in the north),

October Theme: Halloween Tree || Optional Theme: Harvest Tree, Candy Tree, Breast Cancer Awareness

November Theme: NHL Hockey Tree (sometimes my husband likes to give input in the tree, and he suggested a hockey tree, so I ran with it, obviously you can do something different). || Optional Theme: Veterans Day Tree, Thanksgiving Tree

December Theme: Christmas Tree (but decorate it differently from your main family tree, for ours, we use our “kid ornaments” such as the ones we made in school as kids or the homemade ones we make together) || Optional Themes: Hanukkah Tree, Kwanza Tree, Candy Cane Tree

Thank you for your support this year. I hope that you have enjoyed all my shenanigans. Have a wonderful holiday season and start thinking about what you are going to choose as a theme for your January tree 😉.
